Program Director for Beth Jacob Synagogue

1. Event Creation and Production
- Identify and organize at least two community events per month for a variety of ages and interests including holiday celebrations.
- Coordinate with weekly program hosts and service leaders to support them.
- For in-person events, organize set-up and breakdown. Host Zoom for programs or identify alternate hosts.
- Recruit and supervise volunteers as needed.
2. Administrative support and Communications
- Update the website and database as well as the calendar with upcoming programs and services.
- Produce and send out the weekly newsletter covering the week’s programs and services on Mondays and Fridays.
- Be the welcoming first point of contact for the synagogue- virtually and in person.
- Create membership booklet (November), high holiday program and schedule (August), and help with mailings.
- Interact with and support the board and relevant committees as needed with assigned tasks.
- Support the Hebrew school program through recruitment, promotion and administrative tasks as assigned by the board.
- Spread the word about upcoming events through newspapers, Front Porch Forum, Facebook, other Jewish organizations and groups. Create and post flyers in local communities to promote upcoming programs.
- Empty the mailbox weekly, deposit checks and record donations.
3. Building Management
- General upkeep of building.
- Communicate with sub-contractors including the cleaner and maintenance providers to make sure all of the building’s daily and annual needs are met.
- Be the point person for anyone that needs access to the building- maintain the building schedule, support B’nai mitzvah families, arrange for special events including life cycle events.
Background in Jewish studies or professional experience at a Jewish-themed organization is helpful but not required.
Approximately 32 hours/week. Hours are negotiable and can be done mostly from home.
Salary $36-40,000/year based on experience.
