Creation from Something: A Text Study on God's Flawed and Beautiful Attempts to Form the World, Part I (Zoom only)

Thursday, October 14, 2021 8 Cheshvan 5782

6:30 PM - 7:45 PM

How should we relate to the natural world? What role does God play in keeping our planet going? Guided by rabbinic intern Joey Glick, we'll consider these questions by looking at a series of rabbinic stories about the creation of the world. While later Jewish thinkers argued that God created the world from nothing, the rabbis of the Talmud envisioned creation through God's careful and often fraught collaboration with the natural elements, angels and humans.

Please note: This is a two-session event. In the first session, we'll explore God's creation of nature. The second session will focus on humanity. Feel free to come to both or either session. By looking at these origin stories, we'll consider our responsibility in maintaining a healthy world.
