If you have been feeling distress and sorrow for the thousands of families being held in abysmal conditions by the US government on the southern border, you now have an opportunity to act! The Central Vermont Refugee Action Network (CVRAN) is leading the effort to create a support network, tentatively called the Asylum Seekers Support Network (ASSN), which will sponsor a refuge family here in Montpelier. This meeting is open to all (not just Beth Jacob members) who would like more information and want to support this effort. Ultimately ASSN will need support from a wide spectrum of Montpelier citizens. Presenters: Diane Fitch, Pam Walker and Rev Jean Jersey of the Central Vermont Refugee Action Network Purpose: to provide information, answer questions, create an initial committee of Beth Jacob community members and identify one or two point people to be liaisons between Beth Jacob and ASSN.
